The Ruth Bader Ginsburg Scholarship seeks to empower the next generation of young lawyers.

 

About the Scholarship

Ginsburg Scholarships seek to further education of promising first-year law students from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds.

Scholarships of $40,000 are awarded to recipients.

These are distributed in four installments of $10,000 apiece at the beginning of each semester of students’ second and third years of law school.

Note: This award may select law students at multiple law schools.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Scholarship, an applicant should meet the following requirements.

  • Top 5% of class standing at an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Member of an underrepresented racial/ethnic minority (e.g. Native American, Black/African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic-American) or other underrepresented community.

  • Letter of recommendation.

  • 250-word essay about personal background, referencing disadvantaged or underrepresented status.

  • Sign release for permission to discuss applicant with the law dean or faculty at applicant’s law school.
